Does Choffy Help with Weight Loss?

A lot of attention has come to Choffy after being featured on Dr. Oz and I wanted to address this frequent question I get about Choffy and weight loss. Does Choffy really help with weight loss? The answer to this question comes from a recent study that shows that cocoa polyphenols (antioxidants) can help with weight management in conjunction with a low calorie diet.

The study was done “in vitro” which means it was just done in the lab and is chemically-based, not with humans or even animals. Much of the basis of concepts start at this stage research-wise. The researchers looked at a few different sources of cocoa extracts and tested to see how they would inhibit three different common digestive enzymes. The study found that the least processed cocoa extract inhibited these enzymes the best, and the consequences of that, in concept, means that our bodies would not absorb as many calories from the food that we eat. The caveat would be it would only make sense when the person is not overindulging in calories because at that point the effect would be offset by the abundance of calories.

Of course this hasn’t been used in a clinical study yet, but we can see that besides the cardiovascular and brain health benefits, there are health benefits to the chemical make up of Choffy that should help with weight management. With Choffy already being a low calorie drink, this alone has great merits for weight management, especially since it is tasty and satisfying!
